To use the spreadsheet, all you need is access to Google. We developed our spreadsheets using Google Sheets and have provided detailed written instructions. We’ve also provided a copy of the instructions inside our community with printable PDF planning sheets to help you get started.

Yes and No. You can access the initial planning spreadsheet on your phone. It’s great for checking your numbers if needed in a pinch. But we recommend doing your initial planning and data entry on a laptop or desktop computer. We’ve also added a few planning printable PDFs for those who prefer to write out the numbers on paper before they enter them into the spreadsheet.

Our second spreadsheet (the During and After version) can be used from your phone during your vacation. It has a place to enter your expenses as they occur. For example, if you buy breakfast first thing in the morning, you can enter “breakfast” and the amount you spent. It will automatically deduct the expense from the budget you previously set.

You DON’T HAVE to use this secondary spreadsheet during your vacation. But we created this option to give you a simple way to keep up with expenses while you’re traveling. If you’re on a tight budget, you’re going to want to use this option. It will help you stay aware of how much you’ve spent and make it easier to say no when you’re tempted to splurge.
